[2019] Sustainable Development Transformation Forum

Tuesday, 22 October 2019 - 10:00pm to Friday, 25 October 2019 - 6:00am

Description

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by UN Member States in September 2015. Included in the Agenda are 17 Sustainable Development Golas (SDGs) and 169 associated targets, described as "integrated and indivisible, global in nature and universally applicable, taking into account different national realities, capacities, and levels of development and respecting national policies and priorities." Furthermore, in the Agenda, Member States note the following: "We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this collective journey, we pledge that "no one will be left behind."

In this regard, UNOSD will organize 2019 Sustainable Development Transformation Forum (SDTF) to achieve the 2030 Agenda and adhere to UN aspirations. SDTF will take place at Holiday Inn  Incheon, Republic of Korea from 22 to 24 October 2019. This year's SDTF will focus centrally on what it will take to achieve the fundamental transformations in energy, industrial, food and other sectors to shift from a Business-as-Usual path. It will consider not merely the technicalities but also the political economy and behavioral economics of a sustainable development and its transition as well. With regard to behavioral economics, SDTF also explores the psychology of consumer choice and how sustainable can become the default across all types of consumers.

The event will accommodate approximately 100 participants from governments, UN Agencies, think tanks, development banks, academic institutions, civil societies, and private sector from around the world.

※The Forum is organized by the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) of UN DESA, Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) in partnership with the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF).
